The original Nissan GT-R was launched in 2007 and since then it’s had a few tweaks and face lifts over the years but the old-school formula at the heart of its success remains the same – and quite rightly so as this car is simply dynamite!!
In this latest edition of the Nissan GT-R, the hand built V6, 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged engine will propel you from standstill to northwards of 60mph in only 2.7 seconds . . . . Which would be extraordinary for a Ferrari or Lamborghini or McLaren etc. . . . . But it’s a Nissan!!
Although maybe we shouldn’t be so surprised that this every day road car can rival and indeed outperform some of the aforementioned Supercars. In the 1970’s the Datsun 240Z with its twin carb, straight 6 cylinder engine, was streets ahead of anything available to the mainstream buyer at the time – so the writing was probably on the wall many years ago.
In any event this latest incarnation of the Nissan GT-R is totally bonkers – it tootles away like a Ford Mondeo on the school run but if you dare plant your foot on the noisy pedal . . . I dare you . . .
